Current Ranging

Smart Manager software support auto current ranging function.

If you tested low current using 2Amp current range, you can see the above.

If you set 2mA current range, you can see the following graph

1.       Current range changing.

Auto current ranging function will set proper current range following measured current value.

Default Auto current ranging criteria is

Current range up : 95%

Current range down: 8.5%.

If current range is 2mA range and measured current value is over 1.9mA(2mA*0.95) then current range will be changed to 20mA.

If current range is 2mA range and measured current value is less than 170uA then current range will be changed to 200uA.

You can change up or down % in device utility.

2.       Current range change delay

When current range changing happen during experiment, It will change current sensing circuit and it makes spike signal on circuit open/close very shortly.  If software record these spike as data point, it is not normal data.

Smart manager software will not record when current range changing happens for delay time.

Default delay time is 100msec. This means that software will not record the data for 100msec after changing current range.

If current range changing delay time is 100msec and sampling condition is less than 100msec then we recommend to us manual current ranging instead of auto current ranging function.

If scan rate is 100mV/sec and sampling condition is >10mV then sampling time will be >100msec. In this case you can use auto current ranging function. But sampling condition is 2mV then sampling time is 20msec. In this case you need to set current range manually.

3.       ¡°Skip¡± selection in Current range

In sequence editor, you can select current range.

If you select ¡°AUTO¡±  then Auto current ranging function will be applied.

If you select current range, It will be working as manual current ranging.

If you select ¡°SKIP¡± in the first step in sequence editor, it will work as auto current ranging.

If you select ¡°SKIP¡± in other step(s), It will work in current range same as the previous step¡¯s manual current range. If previous current ranging is ¡°auto¡±, skip will work ¡°auto¡± current ranging.

For example, you did set auto current range in previous step so current range was changed from 2A-200mA-20mA-2mA in previous step, it will work 2mA current range when you set ¡°SKIP¡±

Note: If you set manual current range and measured current is higher than setting current range then current range will changed to higher current range automatically.
